To Simon.
I would be interested in learning more about your friend's decision to use an Isuzu diesel's piston for his 1935 Panther 600. I have a 1938 Panther 600 and there is little difference between the the 1935 and 1938 models bar a different cylinder head that in 1938 was used to properly enclose the valve gear.
What type of Izuzu and did he have to do any machining to make the piston fit? How did it compare in respect of burning oil (Panther 600s and 650s are heavy on oil)? What about ba;ance and vibration and heat retention?
Thanks,
Bob
