I'm trying to get the wiring sorted on a sixties 350 Bullet that is being shipped over to Vietnam, wiring is typical Indian butchery so pretty much a complete rewire.I'm thinking of fitting a new 4 wire stator (because I have one) and a I also have a number of new Indian rec/regs. What I'm thinking of doing is using 2 rec/regs. This 4 wire stator has red, black, orange and yellow wires instead of the 2 purples, orange and yellow. What I'm thinking of doing is red and yellow to one rec/reg and the black and yellow to the other rec/reg then taking the 2 reds and the 2 blacks from the rec/regs to the battery. Any of you smartie electrical boys have any thoughts?

Boom?

If it is three phase, then will need three reg/recs, one wire will be return.

If the black is the return (no real idea), then you would need to wire across

black - red
black - orange
black - yellow

That is if the stator is three phase.

Single phase Scaly same as fitted to the E/S cast irons

Norm,

the Snidal manual has instructions for using a single regulator/rectifier for both feeds from the AC/DC Alternator stator (note to Scaly: that's the 1999 and later version, two wires normally go to the regulator/rectifier for the battery and then ignition, etc, while the other two wires feed AC current straight to the headlamp via an AC regulator, no rectifier or battery).

Will this bike have a battery? If not you COULD use two separate regulator/rectifiers with built in capacitors, eg the Boyer single-phase Power Box or the Sparx SPX023 and wire in separate feeds for 1: the headlights 2: everything else, and just have a common earth.

Any interest?

Thanks Adrian, I know I could wire it as I have done quite a number previously on the A/C headlight Bullets but I have fitted a Powerbox because I know they can handle the bigger output, but in this case time is against me because it is being shipped to Vietnam and I can't wait for a Powerbox to be sent over, this is why I was thinking of reducing the load on each rec/reg by fitting 2 of them

Just a guess, perhaps I'm wrong, but if the outputs don't match exactly and they probably won't one may take all the load anyway rather than share it.
