Hello all,

Can anyone advise how the swingarm spindle is meant to be removed?

Is it meant to just tap out or have I got the serious issue of it being seize?!
If so any tips on removal?

There are two types of swinging-arm pivot,the early type made of phosphor bronze or similar and the later silentblock rubber bushes. The early swinging arms have a big cast pivot and the later type are a much lighter all welded construction. If the through bolt is seized then I suspect that it is the latter type as the bolt tends to rust to the inner steel insert of the bush. The through bolt should come out once the large nuts at each end are removed. If the bolt is reluctant to cone out then you could use the nut on one end to start to pull it through. If you have the silentblock type bushes then it is normal for the swinging arm to have little free movement as it relies on the flex of the rubber bushes rather than metal on metal bearing surfaces. If you don't have a defect or fault with the swinging arm it could be worth leaving it well alone.

John, thanks for the advice. As my thoughts suggested it should come out then with a tap to the spindle but is obviously seized and not being held by any fancy clips etc. needs to come off as the frame is being powder coated
