I've just fitted a new chain to my 2004 Bullet 'sixty 5' and find that the joining link pins jam against the back of the primary case as I turn the wheel by hand. There is very little clearance in this area anyway and the pins do protrude an extra mm more than the riveted ones. Has anyone experienced this? Will it be OK to just reverse the joining pin (so the split link plate is on the inside of the chain) as this should provide more clearance.

Been there, done that...
At least in my case inserting the link from the outside and fitting the clip from the inside did indeed help.
Didn't you notice which way it was in the old chain?

So long as the closed end of the split link is still facing the direction of rotation, i.e pointing to the front of the bike when it is on the top run, it should be OK. Mine was fitted on the inside when new.

potboiler - as Frank says, that's the way Enfield Motors fitted 'em originally in India - for the reason you've already described. Another "close shave" (on my bike, anyway) was the nut on the inboard end of the r. brake pedal spindle. Left side brake pedal, of course......
