dear all, finally decided to sort the leaking head gasket on my connie and took the opportunity for a decoke. I am about to order the barrel and composite head gasket as that seems to get good reviews by you guys, but do i use gasket sealant or ;eave it dry? your advice as always would be appreciated thanks Richard

Sealant should not be required with the composite head gasket. Assuming head surface is not scratched and scared...

Many years ago my Dad told me the only thing you need on a head gasket is a wipe of grease. I have done this ever since and never had a head gasket fail. now going to touch wood.

I agree with mark m, light smear of none setting compound. A composite gasket will split apart when removing the head even if it does weld its self to the head and barrel unlike a solid gasket. Had no problems at all using this method and no loss of torque even after running in. Only my opinion.
