Mauri, I'm with you on this, be the last thing I would try, but sometimes you have to destroy somethings to get them apart

At last, the head is off! I tried the rope trick to no avail. So I used Mauri`s tip and threaded the four holes above the studs with a M14x2 tap. Wound some bolts down until they touched the top of the studs then turned them just an eighth of a turn in a diagonal pattern and off she came. Cant tell you how relieved I am. Thanks Mauri, and everyone else who posted comments. The beauty of this method is the threads are there if the damn thing decides to get stuck again. Now I can finally start cleaning it up for inspection.

Hats off to Mauri, good call now I wonder if there will be a rush on 14mm taps
