Ok. So tonight I have dropped the needle in the carb. The clip is in the top slot. I`ve just been for a test ride and it seems to pull cleaner. Had to reset idle as lots of spitting back through carb. Seems better now but will find out in the morning when I start from cold.

Might be worth trying a smaller main jet. The needle clip should be in the middle groove.

I strongly suggest that you ring Hitchcock's, tell them you've bought the bike in the modified form, tell them you'd like the buy the appropriate jets, etc, from them, but could they advise on the recommended setup so you can buy the right stuff?

I say this because they sell the 930 and know how it should be set for K&N filters and open exhausts, because they sell both. They will be happy to help, I'm sure.

Totally agree with Thack - I was on the phone again today and advice is freely given. Our hosts are the best spares supplier in the British motorcycle industry so you should just call up - it is not a difficult problem as you already have a package they sell.

Spoke to Hitchcocks today and the carb set up I have is correct. So, it was suggested that the ignition timing could be out and after discussing it I think it is. So that will be checked in the next couple of days.
They also said I should be getting around 70 Mpg so that's what I`m aiming for.
After dropping the needle down the cold starting is terrible and a constant tick over is hard to achieve so the needle is going up one notch.
