I don`t think cameras are compulsory in Russia; the reason they use them is pedestrians throw themselve onto the car, uaually at a zebra crossing, feign injury and try to sue the driver. There was a documentry about the trend in Moscow showing lots of footage about it.

The Police Riders Handbook to Better Motorcycling is a good read. In my opinion and my every day observations during normal day light a day glow vest or jacket is better than a headlight as long as it is clean and not old and faded, and I tend not to use lights on my Bullet during the day but always use them if the light level starts to drop

Hi Scalyback, if you don't mind paying for a quality cam I'd recommend checking out the Drift HD Ghost. It has some features that are good for use as a helmet cam - mainly that it's waterproof in its own right and doesn't need a bulky housing. Their helmet-mounting system is very versatile and the cam itself is more aerodynamic than the GoPro so less buffeting and wind noise. It also comes with a remote control which makes it easier ans safer to operate the cam whilst on the move. The lens can be rotated to bring the image upright regardless of the angle at which the cam is mounted. Picture quality is comparable to the GoPro and battery life is exceptional. I bought one to use on a recent tour of South Africa and have been very impressed by it. Hope this is of some interest. Cheers, Geoffers.

Thank Geoffers, £199-99 amazon, be here 3-5 days, YAY! YAY! YAY!

LES, you do the same as me, Lights at night, and a clean glowing Hi viz day glo vest. Ride in peace (not pieces!)

Have understood the 'Sevenoaks' syndrome now. most areas and towns around here have a goos share of motorcycles, but Sevenoaks for some reason, has very VERY, few. It's not surprising that people here don't think to look for a bike, as it is quite rare to see one, making it a very dangerous area to ride in. Really strange... a car shot out of the bottom of my friends road, into the main A25, causing a cyclist to swerve and break hard. Stranger... I looked at the driver in disgust, only to find the same woman that tried to beat me to the gap a day or two ago. I think she may live up the road (blue mini GN55 (something)). I guess the Cyclist was passing through.

Anyway. looking forward to visiting some landmarks, and getting them and Tornado's progress on film!
