Electra X Bullet Bullet 2006: The Engine doesn't cut off even after I turn the on/off switch and ignition (even with key removed!) "Dead Switch" doesn't work! Can't stall it to prevent ignition turning! How did I stop it? By running the battery down! Any ideas about what's the problem?

Turn the petrol off or just pull the plug cap off.

So how did you run the battery down? alternator should have kept charging the battery. Somebody has disconected the wires in the kill switch,pull it apart and check, you could have killed it using the decomp lever on the left hand switch gear

Thanks for the advice, Norm. I'll check out all the connections including the kill switch. The electrics have always been "interesting" on this bike!

If you started the bike after turning the ignition switch on but then couldn't stop it by turning it off then problem number one must be a faulty ignition switch.

I would still want to know why the kill switch didn't work

Me too! Not too keen about riding a bike with a faulty kill switch. If I find out I'll let you know after the weekend!
