Back in the 60/70/80's the Japs were a little optimistic with their performance figures too. Remember all those little strokers that they said would do a ton? I remember a little twerp on a 250 Kawasaki trying to race me on a 250 Desmo Ducati. When we finally stopped at lights all he could say was "cor blimey, its only got one exhaust pipe!" I had a 380 Suzuki triple that would barely touch 80, yet the blurb said 110! A 500/4 Honda and a T500 Suzuki that both struggled to reach 90, the list goes on and on...

Most Std bikes wouldn't get anywhere near their makers supplied figures for power or speed unless they were rebuilt very carefully..

Most bikes supplied to the press for assessment were usually specially put together by the works team and not your of the peg chucked together Joe public bikes..

Both my Connie and Daytona (500) have been gas flowed and fitted with electronic ign and various other mods etc to bring them up to speed..
