Had a lovely ride to Hastings today, was a bit warm though, went through one of those road side smiley/sad face speed indicators, my speedo reported about 43mph, the indicator reported 36mph, are our speedos really that inaccurate ?

I got a 120mph repro chronometric on Tornado, It says 65 when i'm doing about 50 !

HOWEVER... Thunderbolt"s speedo is spot on, by satellite gps system.

We have one on the main road near us, and it always reads 2-3 mph less than my speedo shows, in the car that is.

My car speedo - a mini - is 3mph ahead of the roadside monitors as well. I think the manufacturers err on the safe side.

I think the road side monitors can be off too. We have one on my trip between work and home. The car and the bike both say that the sign reads pessimistically.

Royal Enfield riders should never get booked for speeding.

The most accurate speedos are the new Smith's electronic ones>> at about £180.. My mate has one on his A65 Cafe racer and it is spot on accurate upto 130 MPH.. No cable it picks up from a magnet on the forks.. http://www.puca.co/productBF.html
