Hi guys-----------SIMON, that noise from the big DUKES at idling is the over-run clutch clattering...

What is an overrun clutch Alan? The 996 a friend of mine has doesn't do it but the Monster next door does and the guy likes to warm his bike up before leaving so I hear rather a lot of it.

I think that Ariel clutches run dry. The chaincase has a separate chrome cover over the clutch which is removed for access. The chainwheel and primary chain live in the chaincase 'proper.'

All good. I've not had an interaction with an Ariel since my brother had a Red Hunter when I was about ten. Nice bikes I told.

Hi Guys----------SIMON, have a look at this...I know them as an OVER-RUN clutch but they are also called SLIPPER CLUTCHES >>>>>>>>> http://www.ducationly.com.au/ducabike_s ... lutch.html ------------ I have a HONDA CB750 HONDAMATIC which DOESN'T have one of these and you can lock the rear wheel if you change down from High range to Low range above 60 mph.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6k5aVlz504 -------------
