I was asked a question today about the aluminium mounting block fitted to the rear of the gearbox on the Interceptors and not the Super Meteors and Connies. Got me thinking and I guess it must be to help stiffen the rear end because the Inter swing arm is longer than the others. Could this be the reason?

Yes, as Paul says but there are actually 2 versions of this block. There is the "simple" spacer as fitted to Interceptors but there is also a more complex pattern that has a profile clearly intended as a support/location for something. I don't know what it might be but if I say it looks like a mounting for the post of a single saddle, Harley style, as fitted to Police Chiefs does that describe it? I have one that came with a Chief project, if I knew how to post pics I would show it! REgards, Mark
