One for the EFI or the lecky wizards...

I pull my front brake lever and often (more and more often recently) the EFI warning light trips on, cutting off the engine if it is running (i.e. injector is switched off). If the engine is not running, but ignition is on (when testing!) the fault stills trips the EFI system, but it actually seems to kill all electrics off on the bike becuase things like the neutral indicator light trips off too.

What I tested: I unplugged the front brake light switch and there is no longer a fault, but it occasionally trips out if I push the rear brake lever (this also happens when everything is connected, just less frequently).

Any ideas on what to do, look for or what might be wrong?

Cheers Norm... will pop off the rear loom and see if things clear up. That will at least isolate things a little.

Honestly, these bikes are wired with cheese and mud! I am off to find a better quality cheese and muddier mud to carry out the repairs :)

Ok, so after a wee investigation I cannot see any obvious shorts... but the connectors are awfy corroded. Changing the bulb seems to have solved the problem for now. But how do the following possibilities sound to those in the sparky know: a short somewhere (but no fuses are blowing, nor are any bulbs?), a bad earth or high resistance spot somewhere (due to corrosion) drawing a LARGE current load from the battery and tripping out the EFI system - perhaps having less effect at high revs because of a high output from the alternator (which might explain why it mostly trips at low revs or idle, and only sometimes so when moving), OR simply a dodgy bulb doing either of the above?
