I have just fitted a reverse cone muffler on my 2004 5 speed E/S. It had previously had a K&N air filter fitted. Can someone who has done similar mods give me some jetting info as a starting point to tune the Amal concentric carb

I just recently put an S&G filter on my bullet. I was told to re-jet the carburettor.. I rang Hitchcocks, they told me what I needed and sent me the parts. Great advice and no messing about. The bike runs well now too....

Hi Old Fella - has fitting the new silencer made any difference to the way the bike is running? If so can you say in what ways? If not, no need to make changes to the carb.

Thanks for the reply Exile is it possible to list the part numbers? Thanks
Ditto Presto. Still doing work on the bike and haven't had a chance to go for a reasonable run. Howevr the short run I have has seemed OK. Mind I never got over 50kmh.

Old Fella.. I didn't do the same mod as you have, so my point was, that asking Hitchcocks about what you've done would probably prompt them to give you a workable solution and suggest the right parts to make it all work. I'd hate to mislead you by rattling off part numbers that might not suit your needs.

Thanks Exile. Good point. I'm down under and hoped to get the parts locally (Parts available but no expert advice on our "historic" models). However you advice is good and I guess I can wait a week or two for the mail to arrive.

------------ meanwhile a proper "Plug chop" test will give you an indication of mixture at the top end...With both the air filter and silencer changed to less restrictive types then the fuel/air mixture across the whole range is likely to have been weakened-off........be prepared for changes to ALL the jets PLUS probably a better responding throttle slide as well............
