PeteF Subject: Poor starting
On the other hand Papasmurf, mine refuses to start without a smidgen of throttle - hot or cold. It runs fine, mixture and timing seem spot on and it starts 1st/2nd kick every time but insists on that bit of throttle. They're all different!

Due to disability I can't kickstart anything. My Electra X WILL NOT start from cold on the electric start if ANY throttle is applied and it does state not to use any in the manual when using the electric start.

Oh, I know the theory Papa, and I'm sure it's some little thing set incorrectly on my machine, but as everthing else is fine I'm not bothered about finding out what. Like I say, they're all different.

Any news? Did the new spark plug help?

I had an annoying misfire that persisted despite new plugs being fitted. It was only when I went to a large local motor factors and bought yet more new plugs that the problem disappeared. Lesson is - regard ANYTHING bought online as a possible snide. The market in snide NGK's seems to be huge so be aware and beware of online cheapies.

Success - just fitted a new NGK spark plug and she fired up straight away and has done ever since.
Thanks for all the advice guys.
Just got to say this web site is by far the best I have come across for information etc on all thinks relating to Royal Enfield well done keep up the good work I will certainly be back.
