I don't like to sound like a prophet of doom but I very much doubt whether it's a clutch or primary issue. If you had a massive kick back and now have jack hammer vibration I'd be looking at the crank especially if the vibration is engine speed as the clutch runs at around 1/2 engine speed.

Pony, the bike "walking" backwards when revved on the centre-stand is not necessarily a problem, it's just a feature of the engine's torque reaction combined with the centre-stand's design. My 612 cc cafe-racer does this rather amusing trick, but it has no excessive vibration at any engine or road speed.

I use the "walking backwards" trick to amaze people at biker meets, in ferry queues, and especially while waiting my turn to run at Santa Pod drag-strip. The look of horrified disbelief on a typical sportsbike owner's face as a riderless Bullet reverses noisily towards him is hilarious!

Good luck with finding and fixing the cause of your vibration problem: if it didn't do it before your recent work on the bike, it's logical to suppose that something went back together wrongly - re-check everything.

SORTED!!! greased up the auto advance and re did the timing, re jetted the carb and tuned. Still vibrating! thought I'd sort out the replacement exhaust bolt whilst considering my next move. Had to move the exhaust silencer slightly forward on the header to get a better fit. Guess what vibration has gone. Seems some sort of weird cavitation effect causing the exhaust to vibrate violently. Only a small move and it just stopped. Went out for a run and sooooooo much better. Managed to snap the speedo cable on the way home. Going for a well deserved sit down.

Cheers for all the help guys. Could probably now strip and rebuild the primary side with my eyes closed. None it so many times now!
