Gentlemen thank you all for taking the time to explain, I will get into the garage this weekend, hopefully have a successful outcome, I've got it running from basic static timing but wanted to strobe it running advanced to put it to bed.

Hi again, using the calculator to convert imperial to metric then using the online programme for stroke & con rod length, 1/64" comes out at between 9-10 degrees btdc, then 3/8" to 7/16" comes out to 34-36 degrees btdc, or 35 deg (middle for diddle)
My rotor is a later 74mm dia, so the calcs using pi are 10 degs=6.45mm, and 35 degs=22.575mm for the white marks on the rotor, hopefully!
Thanks again for the info.

Well yesterday afternoon I marked the dimensions of 10 & 35 degs onto the rotor from tdc, (using a timing stick as a back up for linear dimensions), strobed it this morning and micro adjusted the dizzie base to align the tick over (10 deg) & full advance (35 deg) with the rotor mark. Starts first kick and nice even tick over, went out for a short local run this afternoon and all seems fine, didn't 'pink' on a couple of steep hills in top. Thanks again for all the help. Westy
