Hows this for typical?

http://youtu.be/MayAP-WNzBE

I have owned this bike for nearly 6 years now and the noise is always there. Tighten up the tappets - the noise comes back. Tighten up the primary chain (put in our hosts rubber cushy slipper too) and the noise comes back. I did find the last owner must have had an unfortunate experience with a dropped push rod and the numbskull simply put it back in (bent) and sold it to the next idiot (i.e. me). He also refitted the rocker arms without the wavy washers so these slopped around like a c**k in a sock too!. Swapped both of the push rods, dropped in some wavy washers and guess what - the noise came back!
I'd go with the loud exhaust/ear plugs combo and just enjoy it.

it helps spanner access if you remove the hex bar in the middle that the domed nut screws onto--------
