i am about to fit a new alloy head stock ,the trails type .
i will have to find a home for the ignition switch and the ameter ideas please???

I'd ditch the ammeter (or at best have one in the headlamp shell). Then I'd put the ignition switch in the tool box (like they used to have.

Depends how "trails" you are going. If you are going all the way you don't need any electrics at all which simplifies things a lot.
