Bulleteer,
The filter I am referring to is not the main, big felt one that gets replaced during a service, but the one at the front underside right side of the crankcase. It looks like a drain plug, but if you remove it, you will see it is a guaze filter. The scavenge oil pump draws oil from the crankcase through this, so if it gets clogged, the crankcase may 'wet sump'. It only takes a couple of minutes to get this out and check it is clear. Cheers, Paul.

Hi Peter, sorry I should have made note of that. Had a K100 here a year ago that had been filled to the top of the filler plug with oil. Being a horizontal motor probably not a good idea because it was spraying oil out the muffler for about 10 feet. Drained 8 liters out of it till I could see it in the sight glass and all was good

Hi chaps.

Thanks for the extra note Bullet Whisperer - right, job for this weekend (before going to the bike show to see the new Conti) is to get some thicker oil and do an oil change including all the filter clean! Shall let you know the next exciting installment!
