The circuits looked ok once they were cleaned up, and yes, the rear wiring loom is homemade Alan R!! The tail light design on the EFIs seems to encourage water buildup IN the light unit, soaking the rear indicators and tail light connections. I remade the loom from the main look to the connectors earlier this year, but didn't need to do anything with the wiring on the consumers (learning!) themselves as they seemed sound at the time. Now, the last gremlin before MOT hopefully... how much should the headlamp glow brigther or dimmer based on engine revs? It still fluctuates, getting brighter at high revs, but much less noticably now that the earthing issue has improved. Lights still fluctuate in intensity a little when other consumables are flashing :) but again, how much is acceptable? Interestingly, it is barely noticable when full beam is on.

The fact that the headlamp increases in intensity as the revs rise I would have said was normal, in fact it's a basic test to show that the charging system is working. As the revs increase so will the voltage, up to around 14.5v, limited by the regulator/ rectifier and hence the brightness will increase with it. How much will depend on the state of the battery, charging system and wiring to the light. If anything I would have thought it would be more noticeable on high beam as you will be drawing slightly more current but perhaps it is less obvious because of the beam pattern. It could be though that further gains can be made from checking the connections in the low beam circuit up to and including the bulb. A voltmeter across the battery will verify the battery condition and charging voltage. As for the MOT I wouldn't worry.Within reason they will only be interested that the lights work at all and that the beam pattern is correct.

Hi guys-------- In the past I have had a Honda CB125 and a Honda CG125 (Both on 6 volts).. Both bikes lights would slightly dim in time with the indicators flashing, even after a new loom, full scraping of paint and cleaning of contact areas, etc..... All bulbs were new, switches cleaned and earths checked, battery charged etc, etc,.....They passed MoT with no advisories.... (as per FRANK )
