I would also consider cutting the wires between the original unit and connector block and plumbing in the new box there. That way you retain the originality of the loom and if you ever want to go back to an original unit you can simply plug one in. Not that it's likely, granted, but the option will be there.

Alan (Lancashire) as per your post orange/yellow feed the A/C headlight, not the 2 purples, 2 purples feed the rec/reg and converts it to D/C for the battery

Thanks for all the power box upgrade input everyone. I have now managed to identify which wires from the harnes goes to which wires on the power box (PB). For anyone in the future who wants to change a 2003 Sixty Five regulator/rectifyer to a power box unit here are the colour connections you need to make. You can even use the existing plug comming from the harnes if you like (i have, and have soldered the new PB wires to the old Rectifier plug so everything is still in place using the old plug- connector). The harnes-Red/Yel to PB Red. harnes-Blk to PB Blk. harnes-2 Purple wires to PB 2 Yel wires (either yellow to either purple wire) Just make sure you have the right power box for your bike and that the colour connections for mine may be different for yours, if a different model. Thanks guys
