I'm not sure what they are called in the UK but out here we have the C5 which is unit construction without a kick starter, probably about a 2009 model. It is blowing a fuse that is located near the rear guard. I haven't seen it yet so I don't have a lot of info but I'm going to have to sort it. From what I can imagine it probably controls the fuel relay, fuel injector and the fuel pump. The only online diagram I have seen shows no fuse in this area only a main fuse in the main pos wire from the battery. I'm going to be stuck with this on Sat so any early info would be a help. Any C5 owners come across this problem?

Thanks Allan, didn't help much, problem is this bike is going to be used for a charity ride from Nepal down through Burma and then across Aus for kids in those countries suffering from cleft palets and other problems and Thursday was the organised photo shoot/ promo day and in typical Enfield fashion the bike wouldn't run so it all had to be cancelled. Don't think I would be overley impressed with taking a fuel injected one through those Asian countries, fitting a carby seems a better option to me

Does anybody know what is involved in just bolting a micab on one of these. Anybody know what the Indians are using up in the high country because I had earlier heard they weren't using fuel injection up there

Hi Norm... Mr H does an EFI to carb conversion kit. Involves carb, a fuel tap, a new magneto flywheel thingy and some other gubbins. Regarding your fuse problem - check the rear tail lights wiring harness where it passes from the seat area under the rear mudguard, the harness WILL break there eventually.

Right. I've done a bit of digging and here's what I've found. The UCE C5 is known as the Classic EFI over here. Our Hosts do have an on-line parts list for this Enfield. The only UCE engine that I could find that was fitted with a carb from the factory was the 350 Thunderbird (Parts book isn't on-line). The UCE Thunderbird has an engine that is similar to the Electra EFI, while the Classic EFI appears to be completely different. Yeah, it's not much help, but it's a start.

Thanks Michael and Barry, we have found the problem when the people who sprayed the bike in the charity ride colours they damaged the loom up near the steering stem. Still haven't found what the fuse is actually for but it obviously did what it was supposed to do. The carby kit seems the obvious way to help eliminate problems that might happen happen in remote areas. I know if this ride was being done on a BMW you wouldn't consider removing the fuel injection but this is an Enfield and needs to be kept simple. We should have started this with a rebuilt cast iron but too late now
