We seem to have ended up talking about two different things here; water or steam injection to make the engine run more efficiently, and one off water spraying for de-coking. I have seem some independent demonstrations of steam injection that seem to make sense and lift it above "snake oil". On the other hand, the usual question; why don't manufacturers fit it? Good, but not worth the bother, perhaps? As to water spray decoking, I'll give it a miss, I think, given some of the advice in this thread (for which thanks). Mad Mike- it's easy to separate the hydrogen from the oxygen in water by electrolysis.; all you do is run a current through it and oxygen will come off one terminal and hydrogen from the other. Trouble is, recombining the oxygen and hydrogen will make a satisfying bang, but the energy released will not be as much as the electricity you used up!
