Just bought a new dry 12v battery for my 89 350 Bullet. I filled with acid and charged overnight using my Optimate III SP charger/ desuplhater. This morning the red desuplhate light was illuminated. What does this mean? Thanks

It`s detected low voltage at some stage, just disconnect until red light goes out and reconnect,it should show a green light,if not you may have a bad connection or a cell down.Q, have you a multi-meter?

Hi Mark, I had same thing with a new battery when I fitted it to my 1992 500 Bullet. Remove your battery from the bike and recharge it using optimate, if both green lights come on at end of the charge cycle the fault lies with the bikes electrical system, if the red light comes on the fault is in the battery, take it back, it's under warranty. My problem was with the bike and close inspection found the wire connecting the positive terminal of the battery to the bike had only one strand left which had not broken! Soldered a new eye to a freshly striped end of the wire and the problem was solved.
The bit I don't get is how the optimate "knew" the battery to bike connection was dodgey.

Thanks Ian

I charged again for an hour and green light came on - refitted to bike and all is well!
