Isn't a weak point on these bikes the wiring to the tail light rubbing through near the mudguard? I seen to recall a similar thread a few weeks back but can't find it now.

Hi Foz, I note you had the same problem posted here January 31st.

Did you replace the rear harness (three wires) as suggested by MICHAEL.

Who wired up the heated gloves??? or grips????? Is this worked from a relay of some sort???

What is this oxford thingy and how is it wired????

More questions than answers im afraid at mo.

Light bulb in place of fuse may be ok to prove power drain between fuse holder and first switch.

Once the switch is on i would expect the bulb to illuminate to some degree depending on what is brought into circuit.

Difficult to quantify amps being used judging by brightness,, unless it lights up the garage like the sun
and the harness starts to smoke.....

Better to buy a meter and learn to use it...

My own unending electrical issues might inform here... See the thread about my EFI issues. To summarise, it'll be your rear wiring harness :p betcha. Or... snake land behind the headlight with something touching the inside of the headlamp casing when it's not meant to.

Thanks for all the replys so far. Yea I had a sim alar fault when first bought the bike and turned out to be the rear harness, I rectified that by drilling a hole in the mudguard, adding a rubber grommet and re routing the wire, it has worked fine, also I'm the 3rd owner so no warranty. I was speaking to friend at work who has an old norton and said it could be the RR unit? He's gona bring his fluke round and have a poke. Il have a look at the head light again

Thanks for all the comments, my friend got his fluke on the go
it turns out to be the harness, a few of the wires have rubbed against the back or the battery housing
And courses the wires to expose them self, so bit of eccey tape and heat shrink
All sorted. thanks again

Hi Foz, Seems very odd that this bike has suffered so many harness related problems.

Good that you've managed to sort it. cheers gwilly.
