When I returned to my 350 iron barrel last night the clutch lever was so light I thought the cable had snapped. I started her up, let her warm up and the bike engaged gear with no problems and within a few minutes the clutch had its usual slightly heavy feel (instead of feeling like a honda). It was probably minus 2 last night at this time and snowing in my part of Kent. Has anyone any idea what this would indicate, clutches are a bit of a mystery to me. The journey turned into a nightmare and the bike is now “stored” in a hedge waiting for a thaw but that was snow not clutch related.

It doesn't take much cable adjustment to alter the feel of the clutch lever between light and heavy and so maybe it doesn't take much contraction and expansion due to temperature to get the same feeling.I've always been impressed with the lightness and smoothness of the clutch operation and it is at least on par with other bikes I've owned, albeit nothing too modern or sophisticated. It's slightly tricky to adjust the free play as per book as the smoothness makes it difficult to tell when the clutch starts releasing. Unless the cable is starting to break, which is worth checking, it may be easier to investigate why it is slightly heavy the rest of the time.
