Rotor Taper Question.
I’ve just changed my gearbox sprocket and got the primary chaincase cover ready to put back on and fill with oil, but looking through the back postings on this site I found this post from Jordan Mix on 18 Feb 2008 ,
Rotor question

I disassembled my primary chain case/alternator last night. When i started to get things together to do the reassembly i came upon a problem. The alternator rotor does not have a distinguishing front or back. Does it matter which way you put this on the shaft? If so how do you tell, both ends look exactly the same to me
Answer from Ric Subject: Re: Rotor question
I think the rotor should have a slight taper so it will only fully bed home when fitted correctly

With this answer from Ric, Is this true? Has the rotor got a taper to it?
Years ago I seem to remember we only fitted Woodruff keys to taper shafts.
So will I have to take rotor off again to check it?
Regards Fred
