Just for variety I thought I'd post the latest on the Connie project. Well, the rebuilt engine (but internal condition unknown,) is now in the repainted frame, (see comments on Hammerite earlier!). I found a set of the correct front engine plates for a 1959 model on the shelf, and fitted the new rear plates and re-welded stand along with the correct spacers and studs, all found among the odds and ends I've gathered over the years. 3 missing through studs in the engine were also fitted. With the frame ratchet-strapped to the bench I can get the Monster Nut (TM) on the drive end of the crank and turn the motor over using the Monster Spanner. It all rotates fine with no odd noises although the end float on the camshafts is excessive so I'll have to remove the sprockets to shim them properly or it'll sound like a bag of bolts when running. Bad news is there are 3 stripped threads for the timing cover screws so a crash lesson in helicoiling will be required! Next step is to re-fit the swinging arm and rear wheel, rebuild the forks and fit the front wheel so I can move it about as I need the space to start the next episode of the Ebay 1955 350 Bullet Story for The Royal Enfield Magazine! How's everyone else getting on? REgards, Mark
