Hi all I have a 350 bullet with a Mikcarb and have been thinking about fitting a mark 1 Amal concentric, as I have a couple of 26mm ones of these I would like to try one before I buy a new one can anyone tell me what the jet size and throttle cutaway size is for this model with a free flowing exhaust? I have a big box of Amal parst I should be able to achieve something with what I have. Regards Basil.

hi basil if the mikcarb is working stick with it ,thats what i did on my 350 never had a problem although if you must fit an amal details from an aincient motorcycle data book says amal 376/29 main jet 180 that would be a monobloc details for a 1955-59 bullet 350 atb paul.

I fitted an Amal to my 350. Can't help you with the jet size as I can't remember what it is, but following observations;
1) don't expect any great performance gains- both Amal and Mikarb work very much the same.
2) I slightly prefer the starting system on the Amal. The choke lever doesn't seem to help much, but I like to be able to tickle the carb.
3) I seem to be able to get a better idle with the Amal, but maybe because I am getting better at adjusting it.

But I like the look of the Amal, and part of the fun of Enfield ownership for me lies in modifying and customizing. So I would say in purely practical terms, don't bother, but if you are interested, especially if you already have the parts obviously that's up to you!

Hi Basil, As you've already carried out some mods re exhaust and maybe more in the future.

Then maybe the amal may be the better bet, not just the choke/tickler arrangement but i think im right the needle jet on the VM24 is non changeable for fine tuning purposes.

Sorry cant help with jets/cutaway but will look around and get back if i find something useful.

cheers gwilly.

I have a 1960 350 Bullet with Amal 626 (Concentric) carb.---Among my notes I found the following info.:- Main jet 170, Slide 3.1/2, Needle jet .106, needle centre notch.---I am not able to confirm that these are MY actual carb. settings, however - they may just be settings I've picked up from some forum or other. Unless you are fairly experienced at carb. tuning, you may be wise to follow the advice of others, and stick with the Mikcarb...
