Neil, can you carefully check that number? The Interceptor prefixes went YA, YB, YC then 1A. Simply put, YA through YC were built at Redditch and 1A marks the move to the new Factory at Westwood. Successively smaller numbers of bikes were built in each of these batches. The number you have is too high even for the last YC bike, and 1A numbers start at 177. Have a look at the Burton Bike Bits site, they have a register of known bikes which will give some idea of what's happening with the numbers. One last question, does your bike have removable covers over the camshafts on the drive side outer crankcase? And what number is the frame? REgards, Mark

Mark, I see what you mean looking at the Interceptor register but it's definately the number that's stamped on it. I'll send you a pic via email if it will help - I'm at [email protected]
