I believe Grahame is working with a CV Mikuni off an Electra so it isn't that old and shouldn't be that gunked up

Norm air lock? This would happen only once? The problem which I hope to sort out is a repeating engine stopping after a a couple of miles, and recovers when I wait a few seconds before starting again. It does seem to be a float chamber of fuel being used up and not replenished quickly enough so either fuel pipe in or air vent blockage?

Hi guys---------- I don't think a bowl of fuel gets you a couple of miles,or does it ?? As Norm says ---- float needle for free working, and sealing , plus float height setting. Can you give us full details of your bike please, it would help a lot??

Before you go to all that trouble are you sure that the vent in the fuel filler cap is not blocked?

Check the tap and fuel lines too, these have been known to either block up with silt or paint or actually swell up and restrict flow, probably due to increased levels of Ethanol in fuel. Stopping would allow the float chamber to refill.

Graham, airlock won't always happen only once, with an air bubble in the top of the pipe it often won't clear, but allows fuel to dribble past. Problem is that without a tickler on the carb you can't pull enough fuel quickly enough to dislodge the bubble. Carby inlet position doesn't help, try taking the hose off the carby, turn the tap on and once the fuel is flowing put the hose back onto the carb
