Just an update on this problem. I suspected that the throttle slide wasn't going right down so I took off the carb and gave it a good clean (only the slide and cyclinder). After doing this I was able to get a satisfactory tickover - not perfect but it will keep me going until I get the carb refurbished in a couple of months. I did buy the Colortune, Howzie, but only used it as a final check to confirm that I had got the settings right. Thanks to everyone for their help!
