I would have thought that if you had excessive bore wear you would have heard the piston slap. I'm not so sure I'd go up to 9:1 comp as it will definitely change the feel of the bike. I would consider 8:1 as it give you the extra pep in the response and is a substantial increase from the 6.5:1 as standard but doesn't put you in the high octane set. If the bike is going nicely as is though and not making smoke and clattering I might be tempted to ride it as is a bit further.
