Have you got the choke on for cold starts?

Well, some bikes don't like the choke - worth a try without it (it's not really a choke anyway if you still have the Mikarb fitted) Also, don't "tweak" the throttle as you kick - lots of people do but it's wrong. Either leave the throttle alone or (mine likes this) hold it open a tad, but steady.

I like to kick start my Electra X, my way is tap on. choke pulled out, decopress, kick over 5 or 6 times put back to compresion and throtle open a tad, after about 4 hard kicks mine will start up with a bit of luck
