I want to go all the way with the engine but what is it like trying to start an engine with such massive ports , feed back on our hosts conversion is scant though I gather the crank magneto needs faster rpm to spark as well , our hosts warned me it was not pratical to fuel up with methonal to go to work like the comuter bike that it was .

If you have a magneto, you might find starting easier by coverting to points ignition and then perhaps an electronic system. The Velo Venoms and Thruxtons became much easier to start when they reluctantly had to switch to coil ignition when lucas stopped producing their mags.

Phil,
I have a feeling you are from Sydney, talk to the Sydney mob a 570 or 612 is better for commuting on

The only things that are still stock is the crank/big end/conrod and the oil pump also the primary drive is stock parts , 612 cc is my next step with the hi-flo oil pump , I'm still if and butting on the crank magneto conversion with belt drive clutch , I can only afford to do each stage bit by bit .The bike never stops getting better and I've had it 14 years of the bikes 18 years as a 1995 Bullet Export Classic , vertually all whitworth , botch job wiring conversion and the chrome might fall off , I think it was the export drive that killed off the original engine due to pollution laws around the world but the original engine has many more tuning options and I'm sure could put out 50bhp with dedication

I forgot to mention that the bike has the digital ignition kit , getting it bang on is the trick as you eye sighting the poles and the magnets or the leading edge of , it transformed the starting with a bigger Lucus coil off a 1966 Mini 850 , it's acually a bit of a plug eater with this much spark so I keep a spare handy . One of the most overlooked conversions are the cam followers , it's so quiet there now .
