Les, Sorry lumiweld not loomyweld, This is a youtube video of a simular type of rod, no sound on this one but it will give you an idea of how it works. There are better video's of this with detailed instructions, its just a bit of searching. It is very easy though, anyone can do it at home with a little practice.

Thanks Johnny...got it now....I was thinking it would be an arc welding process rather than a torch....must say, it frightens me a bit but could be useful :(

Les, this is what I was thinking of:

Loctite 3475

Repair aluminium castings, cracked or worn aluminium parts and stripped aluminium threads

Shear strength (GBMS): 20 N/mm²
Compressive strength: 70 N/mm²
