Sorry to Alan R for the late reply. When I said I drill through the "top cover" I meant through the top of the upper Samrat rocker bush half. Not through the rocker box cover. I've also found the oil-seals are nearly impossible to fit to the valve guides, I ruined a couple to start with (They're not cheap) Mr H replaced them but even boiling them to soften them, I still had a difficult time getting them to fit properly. My valve guides are bronze so maybe the steel ones are more rounded at the top end? Yes, the Indian models shoot the entire oil flow up to the head, which might have a been a way to help cool the engine in the hotter temepratures of India. With standard delivery pumps this is not too much of a problem but with double capacity pumps that's a lot of oil trying to squeeze out of the close tolerance tight fitting rocker spindles, hence the mod to drill through the block to allow the oil to escape. As Stinkwheel points out, Mr H now has the scavenge OPR kit that dumps surplus pressure straight into the tappet adjustment area, which negates the need for the hole.

Hello LES H ------------ AH-HA !! Now I see ( said the blind man to his deaf daughter). So that drilling of yours acts as a pressure reducer, to encourage volume flow instead ??. Just chuckling at the thought of the rocker covers with a nice little oil flow over them. Thanks------- Alan R
