Ramchr, the highway kit is an 'official' mod in that the bike is still legal in the UK and will pass an MOT. However, it should still be declared to your insurer as the bike is no longer standard. To illustrate this, my bike had the kit fitted from new, but to get round Euro new bike regulations (eg noise and emissions etc) the standard carb and silencer were supplied along with the modified bike.
