Hey guys, I'm having some serious problems with my new bullet. Just bought it, it's a 2009 C5 UCE. The engine would not idle properly, would always cut out when i came to a stop and while I was riding, the engine gave small jerks at irregular intervals.

Sent it off to a mechanic who replaced the spark plugs, recharged the battery and did a general service and tune up. Started fine after that, seemed to run fine for the first hour. Then the exact same problems as before resurfaced. With the added issue of it backfiring every time I went near the throttle in 4th/5th

Ok all you wizbang UCE owners, this bloke has a problem and nobody has any idea. What is it with the new Enfield breed or do you now have to run straight to the dealer to fault find. They seem to be selling buckets of them out here and sooner or later owners will have to fix them. They may be more reliable but they are still Enfields

I'm sure someone will help who can. I have never had the slightest interest in going beyond a few basics on my cars and motorbikes. And I guess the dealers/workshops are pleased there are types like me around!

Only advice I can give is Get the Peter Sindal UCE manual as i dont know nothing about the new UCE model. Being fuel injected you would need to know how to test the sensors & injectors & settings I would assume this is in the new Manual. link below.

I was quite disappointed with the new Snydal Manual, as he simply dismissed the engine and gearbox and says you should buy the Factory Workshop Manual (Note approx extra 30 pounds.) However I hear that this factory manual is very badly written or translated. If you have had previous Bullets then the old Snydal Manual taught you most of what you needed to know and the new machine is not much different. The Owners manual by Snydal does tell you how to check the built in diagnostics with a test lamp, but I doubt it tells you anyway to tune the bike, since the ECU has nothing to adjust. I understand that the slow running screw can be adjusted, but that is about it.
As I reported before with my new EFI, if I drove straight out of the garage from cold, the engine more or less dies after a couple of km. nay working solution was to follow the Owners manual and let it tick over in the garage for at least two minutes before riding off. On overrun, if I try to blip the throttle, when changing down, the engine sometimes seems to sound like it gives a backfire, so now I just relax the throttle a little when changing down. The tick over is pretty steady, if a little high and she now never cuts out at traffic lights, so that one Gremlin less to worry about.
I just went out for a ride to listen to engine noise during acceleration, referring to another question today and yes, it does make some noise, but once I am above 65kmh, you cannot hear anything above the exhaust and wind noise.
Most of us have so little practical experience of what is going on inside the motor that the available advice here is pretty limited, compared to the host of reliable experts on the old Bullet. Just have to wait another 25 years or so. Meanwhile, I am glad to be on very good terms with my dealer in Germany.
