On a short ride this morning, the long bolt holding the battery cover shut must have vibrated out so I lost the trunnion and bolt. Luckily I felt the cover swinging downwards on my leg otherwise I think I would have lost the battery as well. Looking at the parts list, there should be a spring to give the bolt something to hold against, I've never had one of those which might explain the loss.
It may be worth you checking yours to prevent a battery loss. 2000 Iron Bullet 500
