The Electra suffers from the rod flexing because there is too much crank in the rod. If you remove the pillion peg and straighten the rod the brake works much better. I have modified a few pillion pegs to offset down to clear the rod, it's a bit tedious and requires welding, but if you don't carry a pillion it's not an issue. The actual crossover rod does have some twist but you have to live with that, unless you want to startv welding on stiffeners and then you are unable to remove it from the frame without cutting it out. One of the joys of converting an original right shift bike to left shift.
