Alan, the new EFIs have an automatic decompressor which is based on one used by other manufacturers (Yamaha?). The gear on the exhaust cam is machined out for this device which holds the exhaust valve off its seat until the engine is turning at more than 350rpm. Above this speed centifugal force causes a flyweight to operate and this allows the exhaust valve to close and the engine to start. Hopefully sprag destroying kickbacks will be a thing of the past with the EFI?
