This is sort of technical... A friend talked of getting a 'sump guard' (the genuine RE alloy one) from our hosts. That set me thinking. I ride throughout the year and the roads I prefer to frequent are invariably rich in grit and other debris which splatters over the crankcase. Hmm, perhaps I too should be thinking of something similar. But I felt the need for something relatively unobtrusive. So I've come up with this acrylic shield (mk2 will be in polycarbonate). Protects the underside of the engine and is easily removed (15 minutes) for oil changes.
It doesn't even get warm from the exhaust pipe which was my initial concern and certainly makes washing the bike down after a ride much easier.
